Once there were two people to divide and conquer – to run a house and manage a family — now there’s just one (not all divorcees share these tasks as they once did). Businesses and professional service organizations have not really targeted the community of divorcees nor recognized their many needs. Think about it.
Stores could create starter kit ideas for the divorcee whose ex took care of everything relating to household needs. How many sheets do I need? What is a dish towel? Will one skillet be enough? What about managing household accounts – there’s always one person who balances the check book and decides how much to save each month, and how. For the one who’s left holding the bag full of receipts – now what? What about the confusion of custody laws, wills, buying and selling real estate, etc. Think of all the people who are looking to embrace life again. So much untapped talent. So many ways to start anew.
